What We All Need To Know About Prop. 8 & DOMA: A Program & Reception For Lawyers and Non-lawyers Alike
The Sacramento Stonewall Democrats & SacLEGAL (Sacramento Lawyers for the Equality of Gays and Lesbians) are pleased to join together as co-sponsors of an informative program and reception on the Prop. 8 and DOMA cases to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court this year. Please join us on Feb. 5 for the program and reception featuring Sen. Mark Leno. There is no charge to attend. You can RSVP and find more details on the facebook page.
The education portion of the event lasts from 4:30pm until 6:00pm, with Professors Larry Levine of McGeorge School of Law and Courtney Joslin of UC Davis School of Law outlining the cases before the Court. They will be joined by Enrique Monagas and Jeremy Goldman, both attorneys who have worked on the cases. This informative 90-minute program will be geared not just to lawyers, but to everyone with an interest in marriage equality, the defining social justice issue of our time.
The reception will follow from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with light food and drink. We’ll be joined by Sen. Mark Leno who will offer remarks and everyone will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers and other attendees. All of this will take place in Sacramento at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, conveniently located at 3200 Fifth Ave. Please RSVP here and join all the members of Stonewall & SacLEGAL who are joining together to bring this important event to our member communities at no charge. We hope to see you there!
