Every year, Sacramento Stonewall Democrats holds it Four Freedoms Awards Dinner. The event includes dinner, a reception and silent auction, and an awards ceremony.
The idea behind "Four Freedoms" comes from Franklin
Roosevelt's Annual Address to Congress in 1941. Four awards are issued in commemoration of the
four freedoms presented in President Roosevelt's speech and a 5th, the
President's Award, to a community member who reflects the values of the speech
as a whole. This year's awardees are:
Freedom of Speech - The Honorable Christopher Cabaldon, Mayor of West Sacramento
Freedom of Worship - Rev. Faith Whitmore, District Director, Congressman Dr. Ami Bera
Freedom from Want - The Honorable Phil Serna, Sacramento County Supervisor, District 1
Freedom from Fear - Dr. Claire Pomeroy, Chief Executive Officer, UC Davis Health System
President’s Award - The Honorable Steve Hansen, Sacramento City Councilmember, District 4
Individual tickets are $100 and available through the Sacramento Stonewall website. Several sponsorship levels are also available through the website.
